Jeffrey M. Farma, MD, FACS, has been appointed Chair of Surgery at Fox Chase Cancer Center. An incredible asset to Fox Chase, Farma is both an esteemed colleague and a caring physician. Farma joined Fox Chase Cancer Center as an assistant professor. Later, as a full professor of surgery, he served as Chief of the Division of General Surgery and Surgical Director of the Melanoma and Skin Cancer Program. He served as the Director of the Complex General Surgical Oncology Program and as Interim Chair of Surgery. In his new role, Farma will continue to foster an environment of cutting-edge compassionate care on which our patients rely regionally, nationally, and internationally.

Sanjay S. Reddy, MD, FACS, a Former Fox Chase Complex General Surgical Oncology Fellow, has been promoted to Division Chief of Surgical Oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center. Reddy is an Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery, Program Director of the Complex General Surgical Oncology Fellowship, Co-Director of the Marvin & Concetta Greenberg Pancreatic Cancer Institute, and the Program Director for the Complex General Surgical Oncology Fellowship. In addition to his other titles, last June he was appointed as the Marvin S. Greenberg, MD, Chair in Pancreatic Cancer Surgery, making him the youngest endowed chair in Fox Chase history. 

Reddy was also chosen to participate in the Society of Surgical Oncology’s (SSO) inaugural Career Catalyst Mentorship Program. A highly competitive award, the Mentorship Program provides support and opportunities for mid-career surgical oncologists with leadership potential while serving the Society’s mission to improve multidisciplinary patient care worldwide. Since joining Fox Chase in 2012, Reddy has been a pivotal leader in the growth of not only the division, but also the institution. He has established himself as a preeminent leader in pancreatic cancer care and built a high-volume clinical program in the Philadelphia region. He has also been an integral part of a dynamic team dedicated to advancing the field and providing exceptional patient care.

Richard Bleicher, MD, FACS, a nationally respected and accomplished breast cancer surgeon, clinician, and researcher has been promoted to lead the newly formed Division of Breast Surgery at Fox Chase Cancer Center. Bleicher’s roles at Fox Chase also include Professor in the Department of Surgical Oncology, Clinical Director of the Breast Service Line and director of the Fox Chase Breast Oncology Fellowship—a depth of experience and knowledge to move breast cancer care fast forward.

Former Fox Chase Complex General Surgical Oncology Fellow Andres F. Correa, MD, Director of Research for the Fox Chase Department of Urology, has been named Reviewer of the Month by European Urology – a cutting-edge international journal for worldwide urologic oncology research and discovery. Correa is also an Assistant Professor in the department and the Society of Urologic Oncology’s Fellowship Director, a testament to his exceptional expertise and dedication.

 

 

Former Fox Chase Surgical Fellow Anthony Villano, MD, Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgical Oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center, and Joceline Vu, MD, Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, were recently elected members of the Education Committee of the Association for Academic Surgery (AAS). The AAS mission is to drive innovation and change in surgical care by supporting professional development, networking, and inclusivity within academic surgery. Vu and Villano will plan and moderate the education research programming offered by the AAS, known as the Fundamentals of Surgical Research Course.
