Comprehensive Care That Empowers Patients Through Risk Management, Prevention, Detection, Treatment, and Survivorship Services

Where your patient starts their cancer journey matters.
Behind every breast cancer patient at Fox Chase Cancer Center is a multidisciplinary team of highly experienced and trained specialists who provide compassionate care to achieve the best possible outcomes with the fewest side effects.

  • Early breast cancer screening, detection, diagnosis, and prevention are offered through a robust breast cancer program.
  • Individualized treatment plans are based on your patient’s tumor’s unique genetic and biological profiles as well as family and clinical histories.
  • A multidisciplinary team works in tandem with breast surgical, radiation, and medical oncologists; reconstructive and plastic surgeons; radiologists; pathologists; genetic counselors; specialized oncologic nurses; and highly trained breast cancer advanced practice providers.
  • Referring physicians are kept informed throughout treatment about your patient’s care and progress.

Advanced Treatment for All Stages of Common and Rare Breast Cancers

  • Fox Chase breast surgical oncologists have extensive experience in state-of-the-art multidisciplinary care of ductal carcinoma, inflammatory breast cancer, lobular carcinoma, recurrent breast cancer, and triple-negative breast cancer, and we partner with our reconstructive surgeons for optimal cosmetic outcomes.
  • Sentinel node biopsy is the standard of care for early-stage breast cancer; axillary node dissection is recommended for later-stage disease.
  • Fox Chase is a pioneer in the northeast for employing cuttingedge surgical navigation technology—specifically the EnVisio®
Surgical Navigation System—in breast conservation procedures. With over 1,000 navigated procedures completed, Fox Chase demonstrates unparalleled leadership in the region.
  • We offer neoadjuvant therapy, adjuvant therapies (including immunotherapy), and advanced treatment for metastatic triple-negative, HER2-positive, and ER-positive breast cancer, including PARP inhibitors and immunotherapy.
  • To minimize the radiation dose to the heart and lungs for left-side breast cancers, radiation oncology utilizes hypofractionation and partial breast irradiation.

At the Forefront of Breast Cancer Research and Clinical Trials

Fox Chase physicians offer a portfolio of investigator-initiated novel targeted agents, immunotherapy, and combination therapies unique to Fox Chase. Through collaboration between our clinicians and scientists, laboratory discoveries are translated into new clinical trials, some only available at Fox Chase. For all our clinical trials or visit FoxChase.org/ClinicalTrials.

Surgeons Specializing in All Forms of Breast Reconstruction and Lymphedema Relief

  • Microvascular and muscle-sparing procedures and advanced techniques use a patient’s abdominal tissue.
  • Highly skilled in flap procedures, including the free TRAM flap, DIEP flap, and TRAM (transverse rectus abdominus myocutaneous) flap.
  • Breast reconstruction with AlloDerm, a new processed skin product that shortens the reconstruction process for implants.
  • Our plastic and reconstructive surgeons offer the latest microsurgery and super-microsurgery techniques for patients who still experience pain and swelling after conventional lymphedema treatment.
  • Methods include transplanting healthy lymph nodes from other parts of the body to replace damaged or missing lymph nodes—and lymphovenous bypass that reroutes obstructed lymphatic vessels to nearby veins, redirecting lymphatic fluid.

Risk Assessment for Breast Cancer Patients and Families

  • Patients with a family or personal history of hereditary breast cancer can participate in specialized screening clinics that provide cancer management for those at high risk.
  • The program provides genetic counseling and testing for BRCA1, BRCA2, and other less common genetic abnormalities.

Supportive Services from Day One

  • Before a first appointment, breast cancer patients may receive a phone call from a Nurse Navigator who offers complete, coordinated care with education, scheduling, and testing—and listens compassionately to patient questions and concerns.
  • Specialty palliative care is appropriate at any stage of cancer when extra support is needed.
  • After treatment, the Fox Chase Survivorship Program helps patients safeguard their health and well-being for a lifetime.
